Etone College is incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of Izzy, who has become a European Champion after representing Great Britain at the 2026 IFAF European Youth Flag Football Championships in Italy.

Isabella was selected as part of the Great Britain U17 Girls Flag Football team, representing her country at the championships in September. Wearing number 10 and competing alongside some of the best young flag football players from across Europe, Izzy helped Great Britain complete an unbeaten tournament on their way to being crowned European Champions.

After victories against Finland, Germany and Austria during the group stages, Great Britain secured a thrilling 19–18 semi-final victory against Spain. They then produced an outstanding performance in the final, defeating Germany 33–7 to claim the European title.

It is a fantastic achievement for Isabella and one that the whole Etone community is extremely proud of.

At Etone, we place a strong emphasis on developing the skills and qualities that allow our pupils to thrive both within and beyond the classroom. Isabella's success demonstrates these qualities at the very highest level. Representing Great Britain requires enormous resilience and problem solving, responding to the challenges and pressure of international competition. It also demands exceptional communication and teamwork, working together as a squad towards a shared goal.

Alongside this, Isabella has demonstrated the organisation and initiative required to balance the demands of training, competition and her education. Her commitment to developing her talents provides a fantastic example of the importance of determination, hard work and taking opportunities when they arise.

Izzy also represents the Nuneaton Jaguars, making the achievement particularly special for our local community. She was one of four Jaguars players selected for the Great Britain U17 Girls squad, highlighting the strength of flag football within Nuneaton.

With flag football set to make its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028, it is an incredibly exciting time for the sport and for young athletes such as Isabella.

Isabella's achievement perfectly reflects our ambition for pupils to Participate in Quality, Belong to Community and Thrive in Education. From representing her local club to pulling on a Great Britain jersey and ultimately becoming a European Champion, she has shown just what can be achieved through commitment, teamwork and resilience.

Congratulations Isabella – everyone at Etone College is incredibly proud of you!
