Welcome to Etone

Our ECF programme sits within the research driven teaching and learning team at Etone led by two deputy heads, Juliet Stafford and Darren Bowley. With forty years of teaching experience between them, Juliet and Darren regularly support, observe and coach ECTs bringing their considerable experience, and subject and pedagogical expertise to ensure progress. Our team is organised and ably assisted by Deb Robbins who collates all evidence into password protected, individual electronic folders making tracking your progress intuitive and straightforward.

I am incredibly passionate about my role of Induction Tutor and proud of the exceptional ECT offer available at Etone College which exceeds statutory requirements. I have been supporting, mentoring and coaching teachers in all phases of their career from trainees to ECTs to leadership over 24 years and am experienced in providing a nurturing, responsive environment which ensures that success. I am also a member of the ECF parliamentary special interest group working alongside academics and researchers from the top UK universities.

At Etone, we will:

  • make your wellbeing a priority;
  • provide bespoke support and input from a plethora of experienced mentors and practitioners;
  • enable access to coaching and training alongside classroom experiences;
  • customise additional CPD to meet current and arising needs;
  • offer unlimited access to CPD provided by The National College;
  • guide subject knowledge development through departmental membership of relevant subject association(s);
  • build a sense of community among ECTs through breakfast briefings, peer observations and social opportunities.

Years of experience

“The support at Etone College as an ECT has been amazing, no question is a silly question, and every member of staff is very welcoming and happy to help!“

“I have had so much support, seen so much expert teaching and learning, and had so many opportunities that have allowed me to become more and more like the teaching practioner I have always wanted to be!”

“I would say the support that we are given as ECTs at Etone is what helps set us apart. There are always colleagues to turn to for advice or support, which is invaluable during the first few years of a teaching career. I've never felt like I couldn't ask for help when necessary, which has helped me feel more secure in my role at the school.”
