Welcome to Etone College

Mr I Smith | Headteacher

I truly believe that there has never been a better time to join Etone College. Our teachers are innovative, enthusiastic, committed and caring. They inspire the pupils of Etone College to be independent, inquisitive learners with aspirational goals. We set high expectations in all that we do and operate a “no excuses” culture. We expect pupils to demonstrate good manners and show respect for all members of the Etone community and their environment. We offer caring pastoral guidance where pupils are well supported in and out of lessons. As a result, our “students say that they feel safe in the academy and are taught well about how to keep themselves safe”. [Ofsted]

Teaching is good and is very focused on ensuring that every child makes the progress they should, given their starting points. Our curriculum as a whole and the personal, social and health education programme in particular, promote British values, tolerance and mutual respect for others, their faiths and customs. We have a strong ethos of inclusiveness which runs through the school.

At the same time, we believe strongly in the importance of extra-curricular activities. Every enrichment opportunity builds important transferable life and employability skills such as leadership, team work, independence and resilience. We offer a wide range of clubs and activities across the week, with an emphasis on taking part, making a positive contribution but most importantly having fun! In sport, we continue to successfully compete in football, rugby, volleyball and many more. Your child will also be given the opportunity to take part in and experience many trips, both home and abroad, during their time at Etone College. There’s something for everyone ranging from Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and skiing in the Alps to theatre productions and visits to London and the Houses of Parliament. There are also many opportunities for student leaders to grow such as form and house captains, members of the student council, Prefects and many more. Our young people are truly excellent ambassadors for the school and our community.

In short, Etone College is a very special place where high expectations of pupils and staff underpin our traditional values. Children experience high quality teaching and we expect high standards of behaviour and attendance. Our ambition is to be outstanding in all that we do and to ensure that all students leave with employability skills and the opportunity to access higher/further education.
