Mathematics

Mathematics is an interconnected subject in which students need to be able to move between different mathematical ideas. The concepts learnt at Key Stage 2 develop deeper at Key Stage 3 building in more connections between domains as they work towards and through Key Stage 4, and beyond to Key Stage 5. During their time at Etone College, pupils will learn to; develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts; acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems; reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions; comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context. All of these ideas will then be applied to the real world around us, equipping them with the transferable skills to succeed in their other subject areas as well as their chosen future career.
