Welcome to Sixth Form

At our Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on creating an environment where every student is supported to achieve their very best. Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of our students, offering both challenge and flexibility to ensure that each individual is well-prepared for their future.

Our team of specialist teachers are not only highly skilled, but also deeply passionate about their subjects. Their enthusiasm and expertise inspire students to develop a genuine love of learning and to strive for excellence in all that they do.

We place great emphasis on providing personalised guidance, helping students to explore their future aspirations and supporting them as they take their next steps, whether that be into higher education, apprenticeships, or the world of work.
Beyond the classroom, we offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities, enabling students to broaden their horizons, develop new skills, and grow into confident, well-rounded individuals.

It is our aim to ensure that every student leaves Sixth Form not only with excellent qualifications, but also with the confidence, independence, and resilience to succeed in their aspirations.

Growing Results

100% of students secured a future destination, whether that be university, apprenticeship or full-time employment. All pupils achieved either their first or insurance university choice, with 90% of students getting their first place.

We also had a student secure a place at the University of Oxford to study Mathematics, after achieving A*A*A in all A level subjects!

Enrichment

Our enrichment program allows you to further develop your employability skills by broadening your experiences alongside your academic qualifications. We expect all students to get involved with one form of enrichment activity in preparation for their applications either to university or an apprenticeship and to enhance their CV. We have a dedicated enrichment period built into the timetable to ensure time is protected for students to take part.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE grades 4-9 (or BTEC equivalent), including English Language and Maths at a Grade 4 or above. Please check the specific entry requirements for the subjects you would like to study – Link to this or prospectus here

Dress Code

At Etone College we expect students to abide by the dress code of smart casual. This should be interpreted as sensible clothing and footwear, that is modest and should not include: sliders, crocs, crop tops or ripped jeans.

Our Vision & Values

Etone College is a fully inclusive school based on traditional values and committed to ensuring Progress for All. We have high expectations and aspirations for all of our pupils.

We aim to provide the best for all members of our learning community where we are proud of our achievements and celebrate our success and where we are all valued equally. Sixth Form Bursary Fund

The Sixth Form Bursary Fund provides financial assistance to students who need support with the costs of learning, including transport, books, equipment, uniform, and course-related activities. All payments are based on individual need, and no blanket awards are permitted.

There are two types of bursaries available. The Vulnerable Student Bursary supports students in specific DfE-defined groups, while the Discretionary Bursary is available to students whose household income is below £30,000. Eligibility also depends on age, full-time enrolment, and meeting national residency requirements.

Students apply online and must provide appropriate evidence of income or circumstances, with all payments made directly into their own bank account. To continue receiving funding, students must maintain good attendance and punctuality, demonstrate positive behaviour, and complete work to a high standard.

Any purchases must be discussed with the Head of Sixth Form before ordering. Items may be reimbursed with valid receipts, or provided directly by the school where upfront payment is not possible.

For further information please read the bursary policy in full below and complete the Microsoft forms application using the links below.

Uniform

Sixth Form dress is an important part of Etone College's image. As a public institution, we need to project an image appropriate to the work we do and, as senior members of the college, the Sixth Form is an important part of that image. In preparation for the workplace, to promote positive attitudes and to model the highest of standards, pupils are expected to adhere to the college’s dress code. A simple guideline is to consider your dress as ‘smart casual’.

Jewellery should be in-keeping with the dress code. Facial piercings are not acceptable except for a small discreet nose stud. Bright hair colours are not permitted.

The dress code must be adhered to at all times. If there is an infringement, students will be sent home and not be permitted to return to college until it is corrected.

The Head of Sixth Form & Headteacher’s decision will be final in all matters relating to uniform, jewellery and hairstyles
