Community Champions Ready to Make a Difference Once Again!

At Etone College, we are incredibly proud of the role our pupils play in supporting both our school and the wider community. This week, our Community Champions met for the first time this academic year, bringing together some of our most caring and supportive pupils as they prepare for another exciting year of making a difference.Established in 2021, our Community Champions have become an important part of life at Etone. As the embodiment of our Etone Values, particularly Caring and Being Supportive, these pupils go above and beyond to help others, demonstrating that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a significant impact.

During the meeting, led by Mr Bowley, pupils reflected on the incredible achievements of recent years and discussed their ambitions for the year ahead. From organising fundraising events and volunteering their time to supporting local charities and developing community initiatives, the team are determined to build on their previous successes. And what successes they have been! Since 2021, the Etone community has raised over £35,000 for charitable causes, including an incredible £10,000 in the last academic year alone. These figures represent far more than money raised. They reflect the generosity, dedication and community spirit of our pupils, staff, parents and wider school community.

Along the way, our Champions have helped to establish and strengthen valuable links with local organisations and national charities. From supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Children in Need and Comic Relief to working with local foodbanks, care homes and our House Charities, pupils have developed a real understanding of the importance of giving back and supporting those who need it most. However, being a Community Champion is about much more than fundraising. It is about developing a sense of responsibility, showing compassion and recognising the positive contribution that young people can make to the world around them. Through their involvement, pupils also develop important employability skills, including Communication and Teamwork, Organisation and Initiative, as they plan events, work together and take the lead in supporting others.

With another busy charity calendar ahead, the team are already looking forward to new opportunities to volunteer, raise awareness and bring people together. Building on the relationships established over the past five years, our Champions are ready to make this another memorable year for community engagement at Etone. Our commitment to community has also helped the school achieve national recognition, including being named Community School of the Year in 2025, something our Champions can be particularly proud of.A huge well done to all of our new and returning Community Champions. Their enthusiasm, generosity and willingness to help others demonstrate exactly what it means to Participate in Quality, Belong to Community and Thrive in Education.

With £35,000 already raised, countless people supported and many more opportunities ahead, we cannot wait to see what our Community Champions achieve next.

Proud to be Etone!
