Our year 12 Psychology students recently welcomed Claire Marshall who is a High Intensity CBT Therapist  for the NHS.  Claire provided a really engaging insight into careers within psychology where she talked aout her journey through her career. Students learned about the type of qualifications, training and experience required to become a CBT therapist, as well as the rewarding opportunities to support individuals with a range of mental health difficulties. The session also went over the principles of CBT an area which students have recently covered in their Clinical Psychology and Mental Health A level topic. Claire spent time exploring the Five Areas Formulation and demostrated how thoughts, emotions, behaviours and life situations are all interconnected. Overall it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see how psychological theory is applied in real-world clinical practice and to explore an exciting career pathway  for their futures. Finally there was time for Q and A at the end and students asked some really thoughtfull questions.
