On 21st April, Etone Exceeding Excellence ventured to Riversley Park to learn the new skill of orienteering. Our teams raced around the park in the sunshine working together to read their maps to identify locations, find, read, and understand information and collect answers developing their local knowledge along the way. We are highly thankful to have been supported in the creation of this task by Liz Phillips and Bruce Bryant, both active members of British Orienteering with impressive National rankings.
The competition was fierce but our ultimate winners were 'A Sensible Team Name' (Nathan, Dannis, Oscar, and Reuben, Year 9 with 26 correct answers; in second place were 'Pancake (Tabitha ,Year 9, and Sam, and Mikaela, Year 8) with 25 correct answers, and in third place were '7 ups' (William, Charles, Gabe, Summer, and Hasan, Year 7). A huge congratulations to everyone who took part for demonstrating their courtesy (especially when they realised that there was a wedding at the registry office!), being supportive to each other and demonstrating the employability skill of communication and teamwork.
