At Etone College we are committed to developing a partnership with parents/ carers and supporters of our students that shares mutual respect and the shared aim of ensuring our students progress in everything they do.
Throughout the year we have different parent and carer workshops. These workshops enable us to look at different aspects of school life, and consider how best to support our pupils in school and at home. In sixth form, workshops focus on next steps and how we can support students and parents in preparing for life beyond the sixth form.

Tuesday 7th October – Understanding Student Finance – Mr Ahmar Ehsan
Year 12 and 13 parents were invited into college for a session on Understanding Student Finance and how your child can afford to go University. This was delivered by Ahmar Ehsan. Ahmar has been working at the Student Loans Company since December 2016 as part of the wider Funding Information Services Team as the Regional Account Manager for the Midlands & supporting wider regions in England.
The session enabled parents to gain a better understanding into student finance and the variety of loans available to students to support them in pursuing higher education. Parent feedback was positive with one parent stating the session was 'really interesting and highly informative' and another stating that they 'knew nothing about student finance before but now do as it was very clear and detailed'.
Tuesday 18th November – Understanding UCAS and preparing for University – Miss A Sandilands
This session was delivered by Miss Sandilands (Head of Sixth Form) and covered the following aspects:
- Explanation on how the UCAS process works
- Searching for University choices and options
- The timeline of events from writing the application through to results day
- Breakdown of the personal statement and what to include
- Where to find support and resources to help your child with the application process
