This week the Hindu festival of Diwali is celebrated around the world. The festival is also known as the Festival of Lights and is an important part of the Hindu calendar. Also celebrated by Sikhs and Jains it is an event marked on religious calendars as a positive festival surrounded by friends and family.
At Etone this week, our pupils have attended an assembly on Diwali held by members of staff who celebrate the festival. This has given our pupils further insight into those religious communities and to draw comparisons with their own festivals and beliefs.
On Monday, our special lunch menu featured dishes which will have been enjoyed around the world as part of the festival. Not only delicious but also culturally inspired allowed our pupils to immerse themselves in the celebration and join with all others in celebrating the day.
