Brew Monday started here at Etone as a one off event, there is an annual Brew Monday, hosted by the Samaritans on the third Monday of January in an attempt to rebrand what is often known as Blue Monday, when people can often feel isolated and negative in the aftermath of Christmas in the colder and darker days of January. Brew Monday was designed to encourage people to reach out to others, to connect (one of our 5 top tips!) and to remind ourselves that we are not alone and there is always someone there to listen.

At Etone we held our first Brew Monday in January of 2023 in support of the Samaritans as a one off event. It was such a success and the importance of it was so clear  that we decided to hold one each month and we have continued to do this since.

Brew Monday is now firmly embedded in our calendar here at Etone, we have our regular events here including lego, crafts, mindful colouring, of course with a side of biscuits and hot chocolate! We use this as an opportunity to try out lots of different themed activities, including Halloween biscuit decorating, we made stress balls in stress awareness month, tree decorations at Christmas but the firm favourite amongst all of our pupils, still firmly remains to be pom pom making, even though this does test our staff scissor skills to the max!
