Mental Health October Round up.

Our Mental Health team and Wellbeing Ambassadors have had a busy few weeks! We ended September with a stand at our open evening where visitors could join in lots of different activities, such as mindful colouring, mindful puzzles and our main activity which was creating our positive affirmation paper chain, which by the end of the night stretched all the way across the library! Our fantastic Wellbeing Ambassadors Ella and Aniela were in fine form as they confidently told all of our visitors about life at Etone and were superb role models all evening.

Our Brew Mondays are going from strength to strength having quadrupled the number of pupils attending over the last month, we have made friendship bracelets, crochet worry worms, key rings, many pom poms and drunk a lot of milkshake while we catch up and chat about our day. In the coming weeks we will be making more paper pumpkins as these have proved to be very popular and November brings stress awareness month which will bring the return of our stress ball crafting.

October is a key month for us as a wellbeing team because we host World Mental Health Day. This month we have raised awareness through ‘Walk and Talk’ for year 7, form time activities, assemblies, pop up stands in the café and hall, mindful colouring in both the café and hall for  break and lunch time and ‘Just Dance’ on a Tuesday and Friday at break time. We also hosted the first of our ‘Connect with us’ weeks, starting with year 7. It was lovely to see year 7 engaging with our activities such as the crafting and games clubs and our older pupils have really enjoyed including them and showing them the ropes.

With the half term and October drawing to a close, we look to November when we will have our focus as ‘Stress Awareness Month’. Watch this space for our next action packed month.
