Etone Football Education Academy (WBA) 20 V 1 Derby County Foundation
An emphatic start to the season for Etone Football Academy Year 13 this week saw them sky rocket to the top of the table with a landslide 20-1 win over Derby County. The game started comfortably but Etone couldn’t break the deadlock passing up a number of good chances. After waiting 20 minutes for a goal, 3 came along at once as the floodgates opened and set the pace for what was to come. Goals mostly came from success sliding forwards through in wide and central areas with Attkins, Grimes and Kosperek performing brilliantly in the first half. Half-time the score line had soared to 12-0. Things wouldn’t slow down too much 2nd half either. Grimes made it 13-0 and from there the concentration levels dropped off allowing Derby a cheap conciliation goal. Substitute’s helped keep things fresh and the goals kept coming and Heaths last second goal took the score line up to 20-1. Full scorers list saw a multitude of hat-ricks and Atkins steps up to top scorer in the league after the opening game.
On Thursday 14th September Etone College became a movie set as we welcomed Revel Studios into our school to film the next video case study with a focus on our new build block.
Since the inception of the project a strong partnership between Etone College and Alcema (our construction partner) has developed and the video case study is set to cement (pardon the pun) this relationship as a long lasting one.
Alcema are dedicated to providing opportunities for our pupils and it was fantastic to see a group of our pupils become the stars as they worked together with the business to create an impressive feature.
Highlighting the importance of the investment in the area, sustainability of the project and how it will positively impact our pupils education the aim of the film is to share our experience with the wider community.
Along with a number of the Matrix Academy Trust team including our CEO, Mr Smith and our enthusiastic staff the video showcases our determination to provide an ‘Education Without Exception’ which enables ‘Progress for All’.
A big thank you to Revel and Alcema for such an enjoyably day. Our pupils really did enjoy their debuts and we can’t wait to see the end result.
As we enter this academic year for many the focus has already turned towards exams. This is certainly the case for our Year 11 and 13 pupils who are preparing for their Mock Exam’s in October.
At Etone College we are committed to developing a partnership with parents/ carers with the shared aim of ensuring our pupils make progress in everything they do.
Following our continued successful programme of sessions last year, we are excited to be hosting our first event of 2023/24 aimed at Key Stage 4. The goal of these workshops is to look at one element of school life consider how best our pupils can be supported both in school and at home. All materials form these sessions will then be uploaded to our website and can be found using the following link: https://shorturl.at/aeCVW

This year we are hoping to make the event even bigger and better with some surprising entries, as we welcome parents of our biggest cohort yet.

Over the summer one of Etone’s very own elite sportspeople was selected to take part in the 2023 IFAF European Junior Flag Football Championships for Team GB.
Izzie M has continually impressed in the sport being very successful at a domestic level and a key member of her team regularly scoring touchdowns and showcasing our employability skills of Teamwork and Communication in each game.
Through these performances, Izzie was selected to be a part of the youth team during the summer where more than 400 young athletes from 12 nations converged on Grosseto as Italy hosted September 1 to 3.
With a superb effort from Team GB the Under 17’s took home the Gold medal, howeverwe are prouder to relay that Izzie scored touchdowns in every game and once again did Etone Proud by displaying all Etone Employability Skills, Values and living up to our motto “Progress for All”.
A big congratulations to Izzie, we cant wait to see what the future holds.

As you will be aware we are extremely proud of the success our School and Sixth Form enjoy as a leading provider in the area. During the past few years we have consolidated strong results and repeatedly performed above the national average. With all of this it will not be a surprise that Etone College Sixth Form has welcomed it’s biggest intake of Year 12’s yet.
Over 120 students arrived on Tuesday to officially enrol with Etone College and begin their next chapter as they move into Post-16 education. As our pupils entered the hall there was a buzz of optimism for the potential possibilities as students were eager to receive their timetables and begin their journey into their chosen subjects. With more subjects than ever on offer it is an extremely exciting time to be a part of the Sixth Form. This was something shared by Mr Smith (Headteacher) and Miss Churchard (Head of Sixth Form) as they shared our Sixth Form Video highlighting our achievements in the Sixth Form.
We would like to welcome all of our new students to the Sixth Form as we look forward to working with you towards your future goals.
